  • In this video, we'll take a look at visual automations and how they can help you build a path for your email subscribers. I'll go over what a visual automation is, how one can be set up. And we'll also take a look at the templates we have available for visual automations that help you get set up quickly and easily.
  • Visual automations are kind of like a map that connects various components of your account together and build a path for your subscribers to follow. These automations can be as simple or as complex as you'd like. So let's first take a look at a simple setup where we'll connect a form to a sequence to start things off, click new automation at the top, right of the automations page.
  • And here you'll have the option to either browse templates or create a new automation. Creating a new automation allows you to select an entry point for this automation and entry point is just looking for something to happen. So for example, someone joins a form someone's added to a tag. Someone gets a certain custom field, or someone makes a purchase.
  • In this example, I'll just choose a certain form from this account. For example, a footer form. Once that entry point is added. You'll see some plus icons both below the entry point and to the right of the entry point. Clicking the plus icon below the entry point will determine where subscribers go next.
  • There are quite a few options for what comes next, but for this example, I'm just going to select an email sequence. This will allow me to select any sequence in this accounts. And I'll just choose a welcome sequence. So this is a simple visual automation. This connects this footer form to this welcome sequence.
  • And we'll start sending subscribers from this form into this sequence. One important thing to note is that by default visual automations are paused at the top, right of the visual automation. You'll see this switch. Currently, this automation is paused, but if I switch it over to live. My visual automation will now be running the plus icon to the right of the entry point.
  • Also allows you to add other entry points. So for example, let's say to get into that welcome sequence, you not only want to bring in people who subscribed to that footer form, but you also want to bring in some people who subscribe to another form on your site. For example, this photography tips form.
  • Now both the footer form and photography tips form will be sending new subscribers to this welcome sequence. To change the name of your visual automation. Just click this little pencil icon at the top left to show me more of the power of visual automations. I'm going to select a new automation and then browse templates.
  • There are several visual automation templates included with your accounts, and you can use these to create really powerful visual automations. Before using one of the templates, you can preview the template by clicking the preview link to the right of the use template button. This will give you an overview of what this visual automation looks like before you add it to your account.
  • In this case, I'd like to add this evergreen product pitch template to my account. So I'm going to select use template. Once you've selected a visual automation, simple, you'll see it in the visual automation editor. This particular template starts when someone is added to this course launch tag, and then they move into a warmup sequence.
  • Every sequence within a visual automation template, we'll have some recommendations for what to put in this automation. You can move subscribers through multiple sequences in a visual automation. And if you need to add any steps, just use the plus icons. In this template example, we're moving through a warmup sequence, followed by a launch sequence, then a delay of two days to make sure anyone who went through the launch sequence had time to respond to that launch sequence.
  • And then it moves into a down sell sequence. This red step is a visual automation, events and events is waiting for something to happen within the automation. And we'll move subscribers to that point. When that thing happens in this case, subscribers will be moved to this points when they received the bot.
  • My thing tag, if convert kit is integrated with your e-commerce system, you can tag subscribers when they purchase from you. So earlier in this automation, let's say that someone is in the launch sequence and they've reached email to, and on email to they've decided they really want to purchase the product that you're pitching.
  • So they go to your e-commerce system and they purchase that product. And let's say, when they purchase that product, they received the bot my thing tag, as soon as the bot, my thing tag is added to their subscriber profile. There'll be taken out of all of the rest of the sequences and skipped down to this point in the visual automation where they can then continue into a content for buyers sequence.
  • Let's take a quick look at what types of steps are available to you when setting up your own visual automation, I'm going to click the plus icon here to add a step in this visual automation. And you'll see that these steps are divided into three main categories. An event, which is waiting for something to happen within the visual automation, an action, which moves subscribers somewhere causes an action to happen to them and a condition which checks to see if a subscriber matches the criteria and then we'll move them to either a yes or a no, that's a look at visual automations and how they can help you get your subscribers, where they need to go.
