  • Hey, everyone in this video, I'm going to be going over the incentive email. The incentive email is very important, especially if you want to enable double opt-in for your forms, which we strongly recommend. We actually have a dedicated article on the importance of double opt-in and why we recommend it in our knowledge base can access the settings for your incentive email by clicking settings, and then incentive first, let me go over what the incentive email actually is.
  • It is an automated email that's attached directly to your form or landing page. And is the first thing that a subscriber will get sent after opting in. It can also act as the double opt-in email so long as it's enabled and you don't have the auto confirm new subscribers box checked double opt-in means that subscribers need to click the button in the incentive email in order to become a confirmed subscriber on your list to edit the content of the incentive email, click, the edit email contents button.
  • Your incentive email, we'll use your account's default email template, but from here, you can change your sending email, the subject line, as well as the email content. You can also change the button, text or call to action by clicking directly on it. And you can change the color of the button from here as well.
  • You can even use personalization code in your incentive email. Once you're happy with your changes, click the save button at the bottom of the incentive email editor. The next section we'll go over is the one which handles what happens after the subscriber clicks the button in the incentive email, you have the option for the subscriber to either be sent to a URL such as a thank you page, or provide them with a download such as a PDF.
  • You can enter your thank you or confirmation page URL in this box here, or a click download instead and upload a file. You do still have the option to use the incentive email. Even if you want double opt-in to be disabled. In that case, you can just check the auto confirm new subscribers box. This makes sense.
  • If you want to keep using the incentive email to deliver a freebie, but you want this subscriber to be confirmed on your list, regardless of whether they actually click the button. In this case, we'd also recommend modifying the copy of the incentive email itself so that the call to action doesn't imply that they still need to confirm their subscription.
  • This is because if double opt-in is disabled, the subscriber will be confirmed on your list, regardless of whether they click the button in the incentive email, or if you don't have a need for the incentive email at all, you can disable it altogether by unchecking send incentive email. In this case, new signups will be automatically confirmed on your list and won't automatically receive an email upon signing up unless you have a separate automation set up that adds them directly to a sequence from this form.
  • The last thing I want to go over is the difference between these settings here and the settings, which control what happens right after the subscriber submits the form. So like we talked about this section pertains to what happens after the subscriber has already submitted the form and is now receiving the incentive email in their inbox.
  • In the general section, you can modify where they get directed to after they actually submit the form on your website. By default, it will just replace the form with a success message, which you can modify here, or you can redirect them to another URL. Some people use this page to encourage their subscribers, to check their inbox for the incentive email.
  • Especially if you have double opt-in enabled and need them to click that button to be confirmed on your list. Just to recap here is what the overall flow looks like. First, the subscriber fills out and submits the form on your website. After that they either see a success message or are redirected to another page as indicated on the general settings tab.
  • If the incentive email for this form or landing page is disabled, the process stops here and that subscriber will now be confirmed on your list. If you do have the incentive email enabled, then after the form is submitted, convertible automatically send that forms, incentive, email to the subscriber. Then once the subscriber opens it and clicks the button, they'll either be redirected to a URL such as a final, thank you page or a downloadable freebie as indicated on the incentive settings tab.
  • If you have double opt-in enabled as shown in this example, then that subscriber will now be confirmed on your list. After clicking the incentive email button. If you have single opt-in enabled, meaning you have this auto confirm new subscribers box checked, then they'll have already been confirmed on your list after they submitted the form on your site, whether or not they ultimately clicked the button inside the incentive email, it's never a bad idea to try signing up to your own form.
  • After you set it up, just to get an idea of what your subscribers will experience. You can always delete yourself off of your own list after you run the test. But of course we're always available for help. If you run into trouble.
