  • In this video, we're going to our convert kit account from top to bottom. And this is an important first step because as we move forward, we're going to start creating things that actual real people in the real world they're going to see. And there's a few branding and other things that. Just adjusted our account.
  • It's really simple and straightforward, so let's get into it. So first of all, you log into your convert kit account. And what you're going to do first is you're going to go to the top, right. To go to your account and you're going to go to settings. Okay. This is the first thing that you'll want to do.
  • This is simply for your teams pages, which has meanings. If you ever add people to your team, it might not be relevant to you now, but you may as well go ahead and upload a photo. And then I guess I don't have a name. So let's add a name and everything is pretty consistent with ConvertKit you'll make changes.
  • And then there's usually a save button at the bottom, right? I'm turning on two factor authentication. I highly suggest I'm not going to turn it on here just because this is just our test account. So I don't need another step to log in, but generally speaking, two factor authentication is a good idea.
  • Okay. Moving on. Now for your creator profile. This is actually interesting because they create a creator page for you. And I think this is something that convert kit is building out more and more because they haven't really spoken about it. And there's not many details regarding it on their website.
  • But if I click a preview. You can see that they're obviously building a sort of page where people can easily opt in, which is interesting, but it seems like it's just in the early stages. But I do suggest that you fill this in with your picture, your name and your bio, because they do use this in various places, including your unsubscribe link, if I'm not mistaken.
  • So this is something you'll want to do. And just a simple bio about yourself. Email is something you would have already done. If you followed a previous videos where you purchase your own custom domain, and then you added your or you created a professional email, we use a Google workspace, and then you add your email to the actual account.
  • So you would have seen how to do that already, but that's where this is. Be sure to add your mailing address for legal reasons. I do suggest you turn on unsubscribed surveys. They're just helpful feedback. And then our GPR settings, this is totally up to you, but we just use the IP address option.
  • That means only the people that it's relevant to get it. And then click save changes. Of course. For domains. This is something that is interesting. So I've changed mine to my convert kit to Carson. I guess that's the benefit of having a slightly obscure name is it's available. For various accounts, yours will probably be something random, like totally randomly generated words.
  • So what I suggest that you do is you start as simple as you can. If you can just get your first name, that's pretty cool. If it's first and last name or your business name, whatever you want to end up using, but this is actually their domain that we'll use as a default for your landing pages. So we'll get into that in future videos actually right away.
  • But I do encourage you to make sure that you try and get a clean, nice domain that's on brand. And that's pretty much the main important features. We're not going to get into payments, or of course your billing is totally up to you. The advanced is again, not something that we need to pay particular attention to now.
  • So I suggest that you begin by first setting up your creator profile. And then particularly also your domain finding one that you want, once you get that, be sure to click save. And then as we move forward, your things that you create with convert kit will be that much more branded.
