Using Video as a Lead Magnet

  • Hello, everybody in this video, I want to give you a concise look at how you can use two different tools to add a, uh, email submission requirement in order to continue on, um, inside a video. So this is great, obviously for a lead magnet. If you create video content, you have to sub and you require the person to submit their email in order to continue on in the video, it can be a very effective lead generation tool, especially if you're making a really, really great.
  • Uh, video content, and then you place the, um, email requirement at just the right moment. Uh, an engaged audience will be able to help themselves in a way to continue on with your video. So the first tool I want to show you is the one we actually use, which is Wistia. And I just have to start with the price because.
  • It is a lot. Wistia starts at a high, a hundred dollars per month. And, um, I'll keep it real with you. You only get 10 videos, um, at a hundred dollars a month. And I just imagine that's this, that sounds so ridiculous. Um, especially when you compare to something like YouTube, which has been free for all of time.
  • So. Yes, pro video hosting is very expensive. This is the most expensive option I will be showing you. Um, however, it is the, uh, video hosting service we use for everything from our online courses to our, um, you know, backup of important things. And they also at least did add the ability to run your podcasts or Wistia.
  • Um, so its feature set is growing, but it is not an. Economical option. Um, but for us it's truly indispensable. Um, so I just had to start with the price because it's, it's a real one. So I'm going to log into our account and then I'm just going to show you how, if I were to, um,
  • let's just. Go to a video. Everybody is Kathleen here. Okay. So a few things with Wistia that I'm going to start with just at a sort of high level is, um, you can customize the player, you see how this is pink. Um, you could change and remove that logo, all these sorts of things. So this is effectively truthfully, what you're paying for is the ability to customize every aspect of this.
  • Uh, video player, um, no ads, et cetera, et cetera. So it is very powerful. So I just have this video here that I just happened to have it in our account. It's an old, old weapon, our recording. I think it's like, yeah, very old. But, um, in any case, um, how we use do this in Wistia is you would upload a video which is pretty straight forward.
  • Um, If you missed it, you would just click upload. And I don't have any videos to upload on my, uh, account available, but that's how you could do it. Um, so once it's up bloated, you know, it's just like normal YouTube or whatever, I'm sure you'll be used to it at uploads. And then once it's uploaded, you can then customize it and do all the things you want to do.
  • But what we're here to talk about is the turnstile feature and what this does is it does exactly this enter your email address to view this video. So we would put something like into your email address too.
  • Enter your email address to continue watching. And then there's a lower text option. I'm just going to see what that looks like. Here we go. Okay. So if you needed to add a little bit more context, you could do that.
  • Um,
  • And then you can optionally allow people to skip. Probably wouldn't want to do that if that was the option. Um, and they have a direct connection with MailChimp, although it's not difficult to use a service called Zapier, let's go to it. Um, Zapier's a very powerful, um, Tool that basically allows you to connect any and all applications together.
  • Uh, it's very cool. But outside the scope of this video. So let's just say for testing purposes, I wanted this to happen after 10 seconds. Okay. Just click save, and then, um, I'm just going to open this in a new window and we can see how it'll look. Um, but I think, hi everybody is Kathleen. I think that's 10 milliseconds.
  • So that's an issue. Um, I'm also just going to open this in a window that I'm not logged into, so you can see. It looks like this. So in theory, we're down here at 10 at the ten second Mark, theoretically. Um, I should be asked for my email address. So there we go. So that's how simple it is with Wistia. Um, obviously very powerful, obviously.
  • Very cool. But as I said, not cheap, um, obviously that's not how we would share this video that really power of, um, Wistia as well as Vimeo, which we'll talk about next is less to share like a normal link like this. And you're pretty much always, um, embedding it in some way. Um, Kathleen here. Yeah. So in most cases you're embedding on a webpage, um, or whatever, so that there's no branding or it matches your brand and all those sorts of things.
  • So that's how Wistia works. That's the power of turnstiles and, um, it can be very effective at generating leads. The next one I want to show you is Vimeo. Now, if we look at the pricing for Vimeo, um, I know you need the business account in order to do what we're going to do. We're going to talk about this, uh, player's call to action.
  • So that's how, um, Vimeo refers to their service. So, um, yeah, so it's $55 pro that's. This is Canadian by the way. So yours pricing will probably look a little bit different. Um, so. Cheaper to say the least cheaper to say the least. Um, I just have to log in. I don't know why it doesn't have a button for me to log in.
  • That's really weird log.
  • Okay. So as I have said, we don't. We use Wistia. So I do have a Vimeo account, but I don't actually have the feature, um, to unlock what I want to do. But once you have a video, you can go to those advanced tools. Like I just clicked. And then there's these interaction tools and then a contact form. So it allows you to try it out.
  • So I'm just going to click that and you can see here, you have the option to connect with an existing mailing list. So, um, they have a few different, uh, options for you. And again, um, if yours isn't listed, for example, convert kit, we obviously use that's again, something we would use Zapier for, and it would allow you to do that.
  • I can even just show you as an example, um, Wistia. So it's connect this app to this one, right? This is what it's asking. So Wistia to convert. Kit, I can see. And the trigger is new visitor email. That's what Wistia calls it. And then what you would want to do is, um, add a subscriber, right? So basically Zapier would always be listened to Wistia and anytime Wistia does this thing, it completes this action.
  • So you can do really, really cool things. Uh, with Zapier that you just normally would never be able to do it. This has been a revolutionary tool for, um, I mean, online. Yeah. People are supposed to do things online, but again, I'm not supposed to be talking about with Zapier. I'm supposed to be talking about this stuff, so, okay.
  • So inside of Vimeo again, they call it the contact form under the interaction tools. And you can, um, decide where you want the placement to happen. Um, so we might say during the video and then after 10 seconds, and then you can just rearrange, uh, what you want, I suppose. So, and you can ask custom questions.
  • That's actually kind of nice. Um, can I delete this? Okay. But you can't delete. Last name. I tend to not ask for people's last name. Cause I find it kinda weird, but, um, again, you can decide if you let people skip it or not, and then you can, um, uh,
  • continue watching something like that.
  • So this is again, just a preview because I don't have the actual account, so I'm unable to actually save it, but you can see ultimately yeah. Works in all the same way that the other one. Yeah, it does. And the benefit is that Vimeo is $55 and in the grand scheme of things offers basically the same benefits.
  • YouTube has all the ads and a lot of, um, It's just a very distracting platform to send people, whereas with Vimeo or Wistia, you get these embed codes and then you embed them on your website wherever you want. And then you have much more control over your brand. How your clients see you showing up. And I just think in general, it can be much more professional for someone to see a video on your website, say rather than just going to YouTube, I think in general, that has good, strong, um, Brand benefits.
  • So either way, I just wanted to make a little bit more of a concise video rather than the Q and a that we had last time of how to use Vimeo or Wistia to, uh, collect email addresses inside of a video players may be a very powerful feature, uh, for lead generation.
