In this video, we're going to take a look at what a broadcast is, how it can be used and how to get one set up at convert kit. We refer to one-time emails as broadcasts. Broadcasts are different from sequences in that they're intended to be sent as a single campaign at a specific time. And only at that one time, whereas sequences can be automated and they may send it different times based on actions, a subscriber takes in the broadcast section of your accounts.
Just click the new broadcast button to get started with a new broadcast. Creating a broadcast is divided into three steps recipients where you'll choose, who will receive the broadcast contents, where you'll write the content for the broadcast. And finally preview where you'll see a final preview of your email before sending it to your subscribers and the recipient step you'll determine which of your email addresses.
The broadcast will be from. As well as select who you'd like to send to by default, all of your subscribers are selected, but you can send to specific tags or even specific forms and sequences, et cetera, in your account. For this example, I'll select a specific tag I'd like to send to. So rather than sending to my entire list, I can choose to add a filter and look for anyone subscribed to attack.
Here, I'll see a list of all of my tags and I can simply just choose the tag. I would like to send to you can also add other tags. So if you'd like to send to this demo tag, for example, but you would also like to send to this beginner tag, you can add that here. Now that the audience is set up, let's go ahead and move on to the next step where you'll determine what the content of your email is.
In this step, you'll have the option to change your email subject line, as well as AB test two subject lines. If you'd like to below your subject line, you'll see a preview of your current email template. And this is where you can start writing the contents for your email. By just clicking here, you can begin typing.
I'm going to insert some pre-written content just to show, um, more text here. You can also do things with this menu. You'll see, on the left that the plus menu allows you to insert certain things such as images. You can insert a file which will create a file, download buttons, dividers, et cetera. In this example, I'm going to enter some personalization.
So I want to greet my subscribers by their first name and here in the personalization options, I can just choose subscriber name. At the beginning of this, I can put something like, Hey, subscriber name and start off my email with a very customized greeting. If you'd like to format any of the texts in your email, simply highlight it.
And you'll see a few options. You can make links, you can change the color, the alignments, the size of the text. You can also bold underline or italicize any of your texts. If you'd like to do something like insert a button, simply click the plus icon again and choose button from the options on the right side of the broadcast editor.
You'll see a few options including preview, which allows you to preview your email either in a browser window or by sending an email to yourself to see what the final email will look like. You can also change the email, simply being used. Your account defaults is there automatically, but you can change that to any other emails simply you have in your account.
You can also duplicate the broadcast from here. If you'd like to, to make a copy of it, including all of the content and the recipients you've selected. Once you're done adding content and ready to move forward, click next step at the bottom rights, and you'll move to the final step, which is previewing your broadcast.
On the left side of the previous step, you'll see the subject line of your email, who the email is from. And you'll also see a preview of the final email. If you'd like to preview that final email as a specific subscriber, you can choose it from the dropdown under preview, as a subscriber on the right side of the previous step.
You'll see a few different pieces of information. Such as the current status of the broadcast, how many recipients it will be sent to. And when the broadcast will be sent by default a broadcast since immediately when clicking the sin broadcast button, but you can schedule your broadcast for a different time by clicking the schedule link next to immediately.
From there, you can choose the day and time that you would like to send out your broadcast and you can schedule that broadcast to be sent then. If you need to change or unscheduled this broadcast, you can do that with the links just below the time it's being sent. If there are any issues with the broadcast, you'll see an alert like this one, letting me know I haven't changed the subject line.
I left it as new broadcast, which is the defaults. And I probably don't want to send it with that subject line. Once everything is ready to go. Just click schedule broadcast, or send broadcast, depending on if it's immediately or scheduled. And you've just sent out your very first broadcast.
